More squirrels
It’s squirrel week here at Kinetic Loop, because they’re good subjects for the awesome zoom lens my husband gave me for Christmas. Also, it’s winter, so the squirrels are pretty much it.

Great Odin’s raven!
(Two ravens, actually — Hugin, thought, and Mugin, memory.)
As a rather ardent fan of the Norse myths (I also like spores, molds and fungus), I was really amused to hear about the inmate who’s suing the Utah Department of Corrections for denying him his right to practice the Asatru religion, which worships ancient Nordic Gods. I had no idea this religion existed, but sure, why not. Though it’s just a matter of time in that prison before the berserker rage kicks in.
According to the AP article, the inmate “says he has been a member of the Asatru faith since 2005, and in order to properly practice it he needs items including: a Thor’s Hammer, a prayer cloth, a Mead Horn used for drinking Wassail, a drum made of wood and boar skin, a rune staff and a sword.”
The Department of Corrections was not pleased to also receive requests for a gold-bristled boar, a magic ship and heron plumes.
